Cuba voices support for Venezuela

Raul Castro said that the US decision to declare Venezuela a threat to US security was “arbitrary, aggressive and groundless” during his statement at the Extraordinary Summit of ALBA nations which took place in Caracas on 17 March.

In his speech which condemned the US executive order, the Cuban President said: “Today Venezuela is not alone, nor is our region the one it was 20 years ago. We will not tolerate the violation of sovereignty or allow peace in the region to be broken with impunity.”

A concert in support of Venezuela in Havana on 15 March saw thousands take to the streets to declare support for the South American nation.
